COURSE GUIDE: NAIL PROGRAM
This 150-hour program is jam-packed with lectures, demos and hands-on coursework, giving students a full range of nail education.
Class Descriptions
*Denotes fulfilling State Board exam requirement.
- Sanitation and Safety* – This is of paramount importance in the salon, particularly in the nail industry. The school maintains a high priority in cleanliness and protection for the client as well as the practitioner. As a student, you will learn the importance of maintaining high standards for a clean workplace, sanitizing work tools and implements, the hazards of contamination and effective disinfection in the salon/spa environment.
- Consultation – The first impression and connection with the client is lasting and much information is gained at this meeting. Students will learn to listen effectively to their clients in order to know what they expect from their service.
- Basic Manicuring* – This class gives the foundation for all other nail services, including table set-up, massage, and cuticle and finishing work.
- Odorless Acrylics – Students will learn the art of applying artificial nails by way of sculpting and the use of tips.
- Gels – Students will learn another variation on artificial nails using gels and light curing.
- Fiberglass Wraps – This class focuses on the application of a fiberglass wrap for fortification of existing nails.
- Nail Wraps and Mending – Using different materials, students will learn how to reinforce and strengthen existing nails or repair torn or broken nails.
- Tip Applications* – Students will learn how to apply and shape artificial tips.
- Natural Nail Manicures – In this class, you will learn the speciality of performing nail services for natural nails only. 5
- Waterless Manicures – Many salons and spas steer away from the traditional “nail soak” manicures. You will learn the options you can provide to your clients for an alternative manicure.
- Hot Oil Manicures – Students will learn why this manicure is still a staple in most nail services, using oils, creams or lotions that are warmed for the benefit and the comfort of the client’s nails and skin.
- Paraffin Treatments – This class provides students with another way to provide a comforting, specialized treatment for their client’s hands and feet.
- Pedicures – In this in-demand service, students will learn how to incorporate their manicure procedures and techniques for the feet.
- Nail Art – This creative, fun class gives students a chance to express their imagination and try their skill at art design.
- Salon Business/Retail – In this class, you will learn valuable retail skills and the business end of the salon and spa industry. This information is integrated throughout the entire program.
- French Manicure – A classic look for the nail, this finish is a soft translucent pink with a white tip.
- Pink and White – This artificial nail enhancement is the same look as the French Manicure without regular polish.
- Interview and Resumes – This class gives an informative and highly useful lesson on building a professional resume including tips on job searching and how to conduct a successful interview.
